DHL incorporates German pharma company STADA

DHL has announced that it will be managing the German logistics business of pharmaceuticals company STADA from 1 June 2015. DHL Supply Chain will manage the logistics activities and sites of the pharmaceutical company in Florstadt and Bad Vilbel, near Frankfurt/Main. The deal does not comprise the disposal of the infrastructure, but the transfer of 155 employees working in STADA’s warehouse, anesthetics and export operations. STADA intends to focus on its core business to strengthen its competitiveness. The outsourced logistics activities will also help STADA to save costs. Board member

Dr. Matthias Wiedenfels, responsible for corporate development and central services at STADA, explains: “We are pleased to have found a professional and globally operating partner in DHL, which shares our quality standards and provides assurance for the sites in question.”

Benoit Dumont, CEO Germany, Alps & Nordics DHL Supply Chain, adds: “Providing tailored contract logistics solutions is a globally proven strength of our business. Both STADA and we see mutual benefit in further developing our business, benefitting from synergy effects. We are delighted to be able to provide solutions that match the planned growth of STADA. In order to cater to their needs and those of additional customers, DHL is planning to invest into a new facility. After a detailed feasibility study we will also decide about the implementation of a new IT system.”

155 employees to be transferred to DHL

Currently, around 155 employees are working in STADA’s distribution center and warehouse in Florstadt and Bad Vilbel.
