Richard Cronk appointed Director of Europa Warehouse
Europa Worldwide Group has appointed Richard Cronk as Director of Europa Warehouse, its logistics operation. In his previous role as Operations Director, Cronk played a key part in building the European and domestic network as well as developing Europa’s logistics business in Northampton and at its previous site in Erith.
Cronk is now responsible for all parts of Europa Warehouse’s expanding 3PL warehousing and logistics operation, covering sites in Birmingham, Dartford and Northampton. The business is set to increase even further since its new 26,368 square metre facility based at Prologis Park in Dartford became operational in May.
When Cronk joined Europa as Export Manager in 1979, his first task was to help move the operation into its previous site in Erith – and he helped to move into the new Dartford facility. In the 1970s, the company had just one depot and a staff of 30. Today, Europa employs over 500 people across 13 sites – which includes a base in Hong Kong.
“I am delighted to be taking responsibility for this area of the business during this exciting period of growth,” said Cronk.
Over the past four years Europa has made significant investment into its logistics operations including the opening of a purpose built Prologis site in Birmingham which opened in 2011. It has also re-engineered its Northampton site to meet the changing e-commerce demands of its customers.
Andrew Baxter, Managing Director of Europa Worldwide Group, said: “I am delighted that Richard has taken this role. With a dedicated warehouse division we have been able to increase focus and specialism within this area of the company. Our new, state-of-the-art facility in Dartford enables us to increase our capacity to handle contract logistics.”
