Saddle Creek breaks ground on new distribution centre

Saddle Creek Logistics Services has broken ground on a new distribution centre in Joliet, near Chicago. The new facility, which is currently under construction and will open in early 2016, is located in the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – the  largest inland port in the US and a designated Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).

The 1.1 million-square-foot distribution centre replaces Saddle Creek’s existing 590,000-square-foot facility in the Chicago area. It is one of 37 facilities in the company’s nationwide network. Each integrated logistics facility offers a variety of warehousing, transportation, packaging and fulfillment services.

“This new DC will accommodate organic growth with our current customers and also allow us to serve new customers in Chicagoland,” said Rob Pericht, senior vice president of warehouse operations at Saddle Creek.
