JD.com sends letter of complaint to regulator

JD.com has sent a letter of complaint to China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) regarding Alibaba, according to a report published today by Reuters. According to the Reuters report, JD.com has asked SAIC to investigation Alibaba’s activities in the light of a new regulation which forbids e-commerce platforms from limiting or barring their merchants from participating in promotions on other platforms.

Reuters was unable to confirm the report with Alibaba or the SAIC.

Alibaba and JD.com are the biggest players in China’s e-commerce market – and they will both be gearing for the upcoming “Singles Day” on 11 November.
