First reduction in German postal charges in more than 50 years

RegTP, the German postal and telecoms watchdog, has given its backing to the announcement earlier this week by Deutsche Post, the country’s postal service provider, of a reduction in its postal charges. This will mean that carriage of a letter or postcard will be cut by an average of 7.2 per cent. These price cuts will be valid until the end of 2003.

A standard letter will now cost 0.55 euros to send, compared with 0.56 euros previously, while postcards will no cost 0.45 euros to send, compared with 0.51 euros previously.
