Doorman launches in New York

Doorman, the on-demand package delivery service, has officially launched today (12 November) in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The company says it “bridges the gap between the shipping company and the last mile to the consumer’s doorstep”.

Consumers buying goods online give the retailer their “personal Doorman shipping address”, which is a location in the local Doorman depot.

Doorman sends notifications when the parcels arrive and the consumers use the Doorman app to schedule delivery to their homes at a time which suits them. Doorman delivers from 6 pm to midnight with hourly scheduling, seven days a week. The charge is $3.99 per package or $19 per month for unlimited deliveries.

Since the company was founded in 2013 by Zander Adell and Kapil Israni, it has delivered more than 50,000 packages in San Francisco and Chicago.
