DPD France testing parcel routing robot

DPD France has announced that is currently testing a new parcel routing robot from Solystic at its Vémars depot in Ile-de-France. The new lightweight robots – called Soly – are designed to sort and deliver small packages to their shipping points within the depot.

According to DPD: “They enable a reduction in both repetitive journeys for sorting operators as well as handling for delivery drivers. The drivers can then concentrate more on scheduling their delivery roadmap.”

In order for the Soly robots to be used in Vémars, all that was required was one simple floor marking of QR codes. The Soly robots move around by following these marks.

Operators load each parcel to be routed onto a Soly robot which directly scans the transport instructions and moves it to the correct shipping tray for it to be loaded onto a truck.
