Bermuda Post to offer online Track & Trace

Bermuda Post plans to introduce online track-and-trace services for its international express mail.

Postmaster General Clevelyn Crichlow said the post was in the process of securing funding from the Univeral Postal Union to implement the project.

Besides track and trace, Bermuda Post is also planning on a new computerization project that should enable it to get a better picture of it outgoing and incoming mail volume.

Crichlow estimates the investment on track and trace and the computerization project will be somewhere between $150,000 Crichlow is also mulling a hybrid mail service but plans are still embryonic.

At one time, Bermuda was thinking about selling postage online and setting up Internet kiosks in its post offices but abandoned both projects as not viable.

The island only has a population 65,000. Bermuda Post has about 224 employees.
