USPS OIG submits Semiannual Report to US Congress
The United States Postal Service (USPS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) submitted its Semiannual Report to US Congress yesterday (30 November). The OIG noted that for the six-month period (1 April 1 – 30 September), it issued 99 audit reports, management advisories, and white papers, and the USPS accepted 84% of its significant recommendations.
In total, the OIG completed 2,218 investigations that led to 415 arrests and nearly $47m in fines, restitutions, and recoveries, $22m of which was turned over to the USPS.
The report summarizes OIG activities and illustrates significant problems, abuses, and deficiencies, along with recommendations and corrective actions related to the administration of U.S. Postal Ser vice programs and operations during the reporting period.
