Amazon to open Massachusetts fulfilment centre

Amazon has announced that it plans to open its first fulfilment centre in Massachusetts. The planned new facility will be located in Fall River, Bristol County.

In a statement issued last Tuesday (24 November), Amazon said that the more than a million-square-foot fulfilment centre will be developed by the Trammell Crow Company and bring more than 500 full-time jobs to the area.

Amazon currently operates a sortation centre in Stoughton and also has research and technology offices throughout Massachusetts.

Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations, commented: “Our footprint in Massachusetts continues to grow. We currently employ hundreds of developers, engineers, and scientists. Now we will add hundreds of additional full-time associates in our first fulfilment centre in the state.”
