Switzerland’s biggest post office opens for business

Swisspost has announced that Switzerland’s biggest post office began operations today (22 February) in the newly-built PostParc complex at Berne Central Station.

The 18-counter post office offers extended opening hours: from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

The services available include a PostFinance branch, two Postomats, a business customer counter, a P.O. Box facility and one of Switzerland’s largest My Post 24 terminals with about 150 compartments.

Swiss Post has invested around 300 million francs in the new PostParc urban business centre, which incorporates three buildings and about 40,000 square metres of service and office space.

Meanwhile, Swiss Post also announced that its access points in Berne city centre have now been reorganized. The temporary premises of the former Schanzenpost in Effingerstrasse and the post office on Bärenplatz have been integrated into the new PostParc along with the two P.O. Box facilities. After more than a year at its temporary premises in Belpstrasse, PostFinance is also moving to the PostParc complex.
