ASOS closes Chinese operation

Online retailer ASOS has called time on its Chinese venture. The company set up its Chinese venture in late 2013, but it has reportedly struggled to take market share from competitors such as Alibaba.

According to local reports, the company will close its Chinese distribution centre and office.

Chief Executive Officer Nick Beighton told Bloomberg: “We’ve just not made the headway that we had hoped for. The Chinese market is unlike any other we operate in.”
