InPost lockers in transport hubs

InPost UK has announced that it is partnering with Transport for London (TfL), Great Western Railway, and Virgin Trains to extend its network of automated lockers across some of the UK’s busiest travel hubs. InPost’s network will expand to include three new TfL stations, four Great Western Railway stations, and Virgin Trains’ Birmingham International Railway Station.

The new TfL locations will be rolled out by the end of August. InPost UK already has lockers at Victoria Coach Station as well as Buckhurst Hill and Ickenham London Underground stations.  The new Underground stations include Newbury Park on the Central line, as well as Chalfont & Latimer and also Chorleywood (both on the Metropolitan line).

InPost UK’s expansion across four of Great Western Railway stations marks a new partnership for the company, covering the West Country with a focus on busy towns. InPost UK has recently started offering its services at Exeter Central and Plymouth.  Over the coming weeks, additional lockers will also be set up at Bristol Parkway and Truro stations.

Great Western Railway Senior Commercial Development Manager Petr Mikyska, said: “Improving the range of services that we offer our passengers and putting the communities we serve at the heart of what we do, this new service really does add value to the journey experience and what is on offer at our stations.”

The new relationship with Virgin Trains will see InPost set up its first fully automated locker outside Birmingham International station. With its direct links to Birmingham Airport, the NEC, and frequent rail service to London Euston and wider West Midlands, it is known as one of the main transport hubs for people travelling to or from the region.

Simon Greaves, Station Manager at Virgin Trains, said: “InPost’s new fully automated parcel locker makes it more convenient than ever for national and international visitors as well as locals to collect and return their deliveries, lightening the load of their journey.”

Ian Caminsky, CEO at InPost UK, added: “The new partnership with Great Western Railway and the expansion of our presence across the TfL network and Virgin’s Birmingham International Railway Station means that we can provide our services to thousands more people across England.  This is an important step towards our goal to increase our footprint in the UK by 60% by the end of the year.  Currently urban customers are on average less than two miles away from their nearest locker, and we are working towards bringing the service even closer to a larger number of people.

“The benefits that InPost UK has to offer shoppers are clear: We know that 50% of households are typically unattended during normal working hours, 48% of consumers say that they don’t have a safe place for parcels to be left when they are not at home, and as many as 68% say that they can’t receive items at work.  InPost UK offers a secure and easy alternative for these people.”
