Record revenue for Freightways

New Zealand-based Freightways has reported a “record” revenue of $505m for the year ended 30 June, up more than 5% on last year. The group’s net profit after tax (NPAT), when excluding non-recurring items, was up 8% to $54.4m.

Freightways Managing Director, Dean Bracewell, said that the “strong result was particularly encouraging, with all businesses performing well through the successful implementation of organic growth strategies and the benefit of recent acquisitions”.

Local media in New Zealand, reporting on Freightways’ annual results, also quoted Bracewell as saying that the delivery may eventually add electric and self-driving vehicles to its fleet – but he would not be drawn into giving a time frame.

“We’ll just wait for the industry to make them and we’ll assess them,” Bracewell was quoted as saying.
