Posti lowers cost of sending parcels via self-service channels
Finland’s Posti has lowered the rates for sending parcels sent via self-service channels, such as the website, Posti’s mobile application or Parcel Point lockers. Posti said that the decreased prices, which came into effect on 1 September, are “due to the increased use of digitization and self-service”.
The reduction applies to domestic parcels that are paid for using general cash payment methods.
The price of a small parcel (size S) has decreased by nearly 17%, from €7.10 to €5.90.
The new prices of other parcel sizes are:
– Size M €7.90 (previously € 8.10),
– Size L EUR 9.90 (previously €10.30) and
– Size XL EUR 11.90 (previously €12.30).
Posti is also offering a smaller parcel (size XS) for a limited period, until the end of September, for a price of €5.
However, Posti has also announced that parcels weighing less than 10 kg that are sent abroad and paid for using general cash payment methods will increase by 12-15% from 1 October. Posti said the new prices for these parcels “reflect the actual costs of producing the service”. These parcels make up less than 0.5% of Posti’s total parcel volume.
