Deutsche Post DHL’s StreetScooter presents new Work L model

Deutsche Post DHL Group’s StreetScooter is presenting its Work L electric delivery vehicle at the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair in Hanover. The StreetScooter Work L is the big brother of the StreetScooter Work. It offers double the loading capacity of the previous model, with eight cubic metres of loading space. This equates to about 150 parcels. The maximum vehicle load capacity of the Work L is 1,000 kilograms.

The Work L is also equipped with a stronger engine and a new lithium-ion battery, giving it a range of up to 100 kilometres.

Deutsche Post DHL aims to have more than 170 StreetScooter Work L vehicles on the road by the end of the year and to use them for joint delivery – meaning the combined delivery of letters and parcels – as well as for parcel shipments alone as part of its “carbon-free delivery” project.

StreetScooter will also be demonstrating how its vehicles can be used for other applications beside parcel delivery. As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Deutsche Post DHL announced last month that its planning to start selling StreetScooter vehicles to third parties on the open market in 2017.

‟The IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair is the perfect platform for showcasing electromobility as the future of environmentally-friendly delivery operations”, says Professor Achim Kampker, Head of Electromobility at Deutsche Post DHL Group and CEO of StreetScooter.
