CitySprint looking to help pharmacies with patient medication deliveries

CitySprint has reported that its new “Pharmacy to Home” service will help pharmacies improve the efficiency and security of patient medication deliveries. Launched at the Pharmacy Show which took place in Birmingham at the end of September, the Pharmacy to Home service involves both the collection of scripts from doctors’ surgeries, and the delivery of patient medication from local or nominated pharmacies to homes, care homes and prisons.

The new offering will also include a full audit trail and tracking to monitor the real-time location of pharmacy deliveries, in addition to route optimisation, operational dashboards and proof of delivery.

In a statement issued on Tuesday (11 October), Darren Taylor, Chief Development Officer for CitySprint Healthcare, commented: “Pharmacies face a number of serious challenges, from increased competition and cuts in funding, to rising expectations of convenience amongst patients. And where other sectors have used delivery technology to transform operations and improve user experience, pharmacies could get left behind. Too many pharmacies are using taxis or other informal delivery arrangements, effectively letting medicines fall out of their control.”
