Deutsche Post optimistic regarding Trans-o-flex takeover

Deutsche Post, the German postal operator, is optimistic that German and EU antitrust authorities will end their opposition to the company’s integration of the domestic and foreign activities of Trans-o-flex Schnell-Lieferdienst, the German-based logistics group. The company intends to acquire Casa di Spedizioni Ascoli, the Italian logistics company, a former subsidiary of Trans-o-flex, within the current month. Deutsche Post had acquired six foreign subsidiaries of Trans-o-flex in 2000, but, as the EU then expressed reservations over the deal, and as the German company was launching its IPO and wished to avoid any conflict, Ascoli was transferred to financial service provider Bayernfinanz.
