Nigeria vows to revitalize postal undertaking
The Nigeria Postal Services (NIPOST) has reiterated its commitment to ensure complete revitalization of Nigeria’s postal system in the new year, a NIPOST document said on Friday.
According to the document released on Friday in the capital Abuja, this would be achieved through human resource development and the empowerment of its workforce.
On the eve of the Pan African Postal Day that will fall on Jan. 18, NIPOST said this year’s event, tagged “The Post: A link among nations,” would highlight the contributions of the post in the cultural, political and socio-economic development of African countries.
At the grassroots level, NIPOST said it would use the opportunity afforded by the celebration to call on customers, especially renters of post-boxes and private mailbags to assist the organization in ensuring prompt clearance of mail delivery facilities.
This, NIPOST said, was one of the ways its services could be enjoyed, just as transit time of letters and congestion in post offices will be reduced.
Since its establishment in 1986, the General Secretariat of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) has set Jan. 18 as the African Post Day in all its member countries.
