Sepomex creates address database

The Cash-strapped Mexican postal service, Sepomex, is working on the design and creation of an address database that will be used to create the domestic postal directory. The project is 70 per cent complete and is expected to be released during the next few months, reported the Mexican government’s Transport and Communications Secretariat (SCT).
The SCT also reported that once the project is concluded, 20,000 address books will be printed. The directory could also be used via Internet and magnetic tapes. “The Directory will allow Sepomex to speed up the delivery of letters and will avoid the problems caused by erroneous or incomplete addresses, a problem we have every day in the different regions of Mexico,” said the SCT.
