ECT to sell insurance through its post office network

The Brazilian post office Empresa Brasiliera de Correios e Telegrafos (ECT) is to tender out a contract for the right to sell insurance through its post office network.
All types of insurance are to be available to be available via the new service which the post will call Seguro Postal by one or more companies which will partner Correios will have to belong to the country’s regulatory body for the sector, Sistema Nacional de Seguros, and conform to the Superintendencia de Seguros Privaod (Suesp) regulations.
ECT said that the products will be targeted at those on low incomes as the Brazillian Ministry of Communications estimates the some 50 million people do not have any type of insurance.
