Effidence wins DHL Robotics Challenge

France-based Effidence has won the 2016 DHL Robotics Challenge with its Effi-BOT autonomous delivery robot. The final of the contest – in which Effidence’s Effi-BOT battled it out with robots from Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik (BIBA) and the University of Graz’s Arti – took place on Thursday (17 November) at the DHL Innovation Centre in Troisdorf.

The three robots had to compete over an outdoor obstacle course.

As previously reported, DHL announced in June that it has run a pilot test using EffiBOTs for “collaborative automated order picking” in a DHL Supply Chain warehouse in Unna, Germany. The robot follows pickers through the warehouse and takes care of most of the physical work.
