Tesco Now officially goes live

UK supermarket Tesco has officially launched its Tesco Now one-hour grocery delivery service. The service officially went live for customers in some central London postcodes yesterday (26 June).

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, Tesco started trialling the service in May, with deliveries being made by Quiqup couriers, who collect the customer’s orders from local Tesco stores.

Adrian Letts, Online Managing Director at Tesco, said: “Shoppers’ needs are changing and we want to offer a range of services that allow them to shop with us in a way that suits their needs. We look forward to hearing what they think of the new service.”

Quiqup has been officially confirmed as the last mile delivery partner for the service, which is available between 8am until 11pm on weekdays and 9am until 11pm at weekends. Tesco Now is priced at £7.99 with no minimum spend on each order.

In addition to the one hour delivery, a two hour delivery option will also be available priced at £5.99. Tesco Now complements the supermarket’s existing online grocery options available in London and the South East including Same Day Delivery and Same Day Click and Collect.

Tim Linssen, co-founder and Head of Product at Quiqup, said: “As consumer expectations change, retailers of all sizes and across verticals will be expected to offer flexible, efficient and affordable delivery to their customers. Quiqup partners are able to do this quickly and easily by integrating our technology and infrastructure into their existing systems.”
