DPD (Germany) to Boost Express Services

Deutscher Paketdienst (DPD), the German parcel forwarding specialist, intends to boost its express delivery services as part of its strategic alliance with US express delivery group Federal Express. The two companies signed a co-operation agreement last July. DPD is a subsidiary of Geopost, which is part of French postal service operator La Poste. Geopost, which operates worldwide, closed 2002 with turnover of nearly 2.1bn euros and managed to reduce net losses from 60.8m euros to 25.4m euros. Management of Geopost forecasts a turnaround for 2004
