Fedex expands Hong Kong logistics
FedEx Express said it has expanded its logistics distribution centers around Hong Kong by entering into agreements with two companies, TradePort Hong Kong and Sun Logistics.
FedEx said it is the first express transportation company to establish facilities at TradePort, the joint venture air freight hub, which will allow its Supply Chain division to optimize the handling of time-critical and time-sensitive products. FedEx plans to move into the new facility in mid-July.
FedEx has also entered into a new contract with Sun Logistics to provide its customers with better local pick-up and distribution services. That agreement took effect at the beginning of this month.
FedEx also announced that it has hired Joseph Frank as managing director for international transportation and solutions in its Asia-Pacific division, effective July 14.
Frank will be responsible for the overall planning, development and implementing of supply chain strategies and expansion in Asia Pacific. He will be based in the regional headquarters at Hong Kong.
Prior to joining FedEx, Frank was the vice president of logistics for Singapore Air Terminal Services, where he directed its merger and acquisition strategies.
