Irish An Post service deteriorating
A new study into customer satisfaction with An Post has added to the misery at the State owned postal company.
A survey carried out for the latest ComReg Quarterly Report shows that businesses are increasingly unhappy with the level of service offered by An Post.
The Commission said the survey highlights “a number of worrying trends”.
The news comes just days after the company said it would have to cut 500 jobs and would report a loss of €50m this year after losing more than €70m in 2002. Just a few months ago, An Post was targeting a full year profit of €1m.
The survey found that there has been an increase in the level of dissatisfaction with the amount of time it takes An Post to deliver letters.
It said the level of dissatisfaction with the latest collection time in relation to next day delivery of letters has increased by 10pc.
Last month, the regulator approved a hike in postage costs, but ordered An Post to “address effectively” its inefficiencies.
The survey also revealed that more than half of businesses that personally made a complaint in the past 12 months said their complaint was handled badly.
