TNT Logistics takes over Transitions warehousing

TNT Logistics Benelux and Transitions Optical EDC LTD, subsidiary of
Transitions Optical Europe, have signed a three and half year contract under
which Transitions will outsource to TNT Logistics its warehousing operation,
formerly based in Tuam, Ireland.

TNT Logistics Benelux will be responsible for inbound, storage and outbound
activities at its existing multi-user site in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Currently the transfer of goods, which started on May 13, takes place and will
be completed in the coming months. After the build up, TNT Logistics will
operate the complete scope of activities. Transitions is in the business of
manufacturing, purchasing and distributing plastic photochromic lenses for the
ophthalmic industry.

“This contract shows the strong position that TNT Logistics has as provider for
handling products against extremely high service levels required in the
ophthalmic industry,” said Mr Ad Velders, Business Development Manager of
TNT Benelux & Multi Country Logistics. “Our extensive experience in the
distribution of ophthalmic products via TNT In-night can be combined with our
challenging co-operation with Transitions in warehousing. In this way, TNT
Logistics can offer an integrated logistics service portfolio to the different
players of the ophthalmic industry.”

“A European Distribution Centre is critical to Transitions Optical Supply Chain
strategy in Europe. Reducing lead times and providing a continuous level of
excellent service to our customers is an essential element in implementing
this strategy. TNT Logistics was selected based on their track record of
delivering high performance standards in third-party logistics support for
existing customers. Transitions Optical looks forward to developing the
relationship with TNT Logistics and exploring further opportunities to add value for our customers”, said Breda Fox, Supply Chain & Logistics Director
Transitions Optical Europe.
