French-Spanish postal worker exchange puts accent on cross-border unity

A month-long exchange programme between the postal services of France and Spain is to see the inhabitants of two towns, one on each side of the border, getting a daily delivery of “cartas” and “lettres”.

Three employees of Spain’s Correos will do the rounds in Albi, near the border, while two from France’s La Poste will be filling their shoes in the town of Gerona, the French company said.

All of the workers speak French and Spanish.

“This exchange of postal workers is exceptional. No other exchange like this has been recorded,” La Poste said in a statement.
