Rakuten and Japan Post launch post office pickup service
Rakuten and Japan Post have teamed up to launch a new service that will allow Rakuten Ichiba online shoppers to pick up their purchases at around 20,000 post offices across Japan.
In a statement issued today (29 January), the retail group said that shoppers purchasing products from participating merchants on the Rakuten Ichiba online mall will be able to specify a post office where they would like to pick up their goods. After the goods arrive, the shoppers will be emailed an authentication number from Rakuten Ichiba with which they will be able to confirm their identity at the post office and receive their goods.
The goods will remain available for pick up for one week after arriving at the designated post office.
As previously reported, Rakuten users can already elect to have their goods delivered to HAKO POST lockers situated within selected post offices. They can also make use of Rakuten Box delivery lockers or pick up their goods at selected convenience stores.
