Swiss Post Board passes vote of confidence in CEO Susanne Ruoff

As the fall-out over the Postbus accounting incident continues, Swiss Post has announced that its Board of Directors has passed a vote of confidence in CEO Susanne Ruoff.

As previously reported, it recently came to light that there had been irregular accounting practices at the PostBus subsidiary between 2007 and 2015.

At a press conference held earlier today (15 February), the Swiss Post Chairman Urs Schwaller set out the measures approved by the Board of Directors which are “aimed at rectifying this serious incident”.

In an official statement posted on the Swiss Post website, Schwaller was quoted as saying: “With its 60,000 employees, Swiss Post has enjoyed a high level of trust within Switzerland and abroad for almost 170 years and performs its nationwide universal services to an exceptional level every day. However, it has now suffered considerable damage.

“It is a systemic problem of unforeseen magnitude and a failure also by supervisory bodies spanning many years. I apologize unreservedly for this to all our staff, who perform their duties outstandingly day after day and are suffering from this crisis through no fault of their own, to our customers and to the public.”

Swiss Post said that, in addition to the remedial measures already announced earlier this month, a task force comprising independent experts will lead the continuing investigations at Board of Directors, and an additional team of people will provide further support for Thomas Baur’s interim leadership of PostBus.
