Tesco appoints new CTO

Tesco has announced the appointment of Guus Dekkers as Chief Technology Officer.

Dekkers’ appointment follows the retirement of Edmond Mesrobian from Tesco. He has previously worked for Volkswagen, Johnson Controls Automotive Group, Siemens, Continental AG and most recently as Chief Information Officer at Airbus.

Commenting on the appointment, Dave Lewis, Tesco Group CEO said: “I’m delighted that Guus will be joining Tesco. He brings extremely strong expertise in driving large scale IT transformations, which will help us build on the progress we’ve been making to transform our business over the last three years. I’m looking forward to working with him, and want to thank Edmond for all that he has done to build our technology capability and enhance our security and resilience since 2015. I completely understand Edmond’s desire to return home to Seattle and wish him and his family all the very best.”

Dekkers added: “I hope that my experience in large scale IT transformations, advanced information technologies, business process optimisations and digital innovations will allow me to support Tesco in translating rapidly evolving technological and digital capabilities into innovative solutions, helping us to serve our customers a little better every day.”
