Target offering same-day delivery for in-store purchases

Target is set to start offering a new service that will enable customers to shop in-store and then have their purchases delivered to their home.

The service is set to go live by the end of this month (April) in nearly 60 stores in five major US cities: Boston, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Washington DC.  There will be a $7 flat fee. Customers can opt to have their orders delivered the same day – during their preferred two-hour window.

In a blog posted yesterday (16 April), Target said that it has been piloting the service at four New York City stores since last year and the response has been positive.

“Not surprisingly,” added Target, “the Home category, which includes large furniture items, proved the most popular merchandise to have delivered.”
