German Deutsche Post to use additional airport for air freight services

Deutsche Post, the German postal service, is planning to use an additional airport for air freight services provided by DHL, its subsidiary which specialises in logistics and parcel delivery. The company says that it is in negotiations with half a dozen airports, including Hanover, Leipzig/Halle and Hahn.

Deutsche Post says that it is planning to set up a logistics centre at its new base; this is expected to cost around 250m euros, and will lead to the creation of between 1,500 and 3,000 new jobs. A decision is to be made regarding the choice of airport this year.
