USPS to raise postage rates

USPS is planning to raise postage rates, Post&Parcel understands. The Postal Service will announce the raise later today, as the company tries to combat massive losses.

Officials are expected to announce the new cost plan and an implementation date, however, proposals would need the backing of the country’s Postal Rate Commission.

As well as raising prices, USPS is also pushing ahead with plans to cut Saturday deliveries.

The current stamp price of 44 cents took effect in 2009.
