Austrian Post: we are creating easy access to an important everyday service

Austrian Post and VERBUND, both subsidiaries of Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG), are launching a long-term cooperation.

It is expected that Austrian Post will offer exclusive electricity and gas tariffs, powered by VERBUND, in its approximately 330 post offices for the first time before the end of autumn. Swiss Post is thus expanding its range of services to include another important area of daily life and giving all sections of the population easy access to attractive energy tariffs. The two companies will announce further details of the offer in good time before the market launch.

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Austrians already trust Swiss Post for important services in their everyday lives. In addition to parcels and letters, we have successfully expanded our range of services in recent years with bank99 and our mobile service YELLLOW. Together with VERBUND, we will also offer electricity and gas tariffs in the future. In this way, we are creating easy access to an important everyday service for our customers and are consistently expanding the Post platform as a modern basic supplier.”

ELECTRICITY FROM DOMESTIC HYDROPOWER FROM VERBUND
As Austria’s leading energy company and one of the largest producers of electricity from hydropower in Europe, VERBUND is contributing its energy expertise to the cooperation. The company operates more than 130 hydropower plants in Austria and Bavaria – from run-of-river power plants along major rivers such as the Inn, Salzach, Mur, Drava, Enns and Danube to storage power plants in the Alps.

Michael Strugl, CEO, VERBUND AG: “With this joint energy offering, Austrian Post and VERBUND are pooling their strengths and creating the basis for a strong, long-term partnership. As a leading energy provider, we offer our customers electricity from 100 percent domestic hydropower as well as innovative energy solutions for their homes. Together with Austrian Post, we are bringing access to electricity and gas products to where people are already on the move in their everyday lives.”

DOMESTIC ENERGY OFFERS WITH THE STRENGTH OF THE POSTAL NETWORK
With around 1,700 post offices and postal partners, Austrian Post has one of the largest personal sales and advisory networks in the country. Together with VERBUND, customers will benefit from understandable tariffs, simple processes and personal advice in the future. At the market launch, the new energy offers will be available in the approximately 330 self-operated post offices as well as on digital sales channels. At the beginning of 2027, it will be rolled out to the more than 1,350 postal partners.
