DHL to host Air Carriers Purchasing Conference

DHL is co-hosting the 54th Annual Air Carriers Purchasing Conference (ACPC) in Detroit, Michigan. DHL and the ACPC will bring together domestic and international airlines and hundreds of aviation supply companies for airline industry roundtable discussions, breakout sessions with suppliers and an aviation networking forum. The conference will take place in Detroit, Michigan (14-17 August 2010).

DHL has been a participant in the ACPC since 1997. The company said the conference has given it the opportunity to meet with suppliers and other airlines for an exchange of ideas and learn about industry best practices.

According to the company, this year’s conference will be all the more significant for the aviation and air freight industries as international trade is rapidly expanding, rising at an annualized pace of 22 percent in the first quarter of 2010.

Air cargo is three months ahead of the market and continues to rise ahead of international trade.

“As a major customer to all the airlines, as a vendor and as an airline ourselves, DHL has a unique perspective on the industry and has a major dependence on the productive future of aviation,” said Gary Schultheis, DHL Global Forwarding’s senior vice president airfreight Americas.
