FedEx boosts China-Europe services

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

FedEx Express today announced later pick ups for all FedEx international low-value shipments bound for Europe service lane from the Chinese cities of Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo and Shaoxing.

Tuesday through Friday, customers in select areas of these five cities have an additional two hours to prepare their shipments. The later pick up at 20:00 instead of 18:00 gives customers more time and greater flexibility in meeting their growing business demands.

This service enhancement is a part of an ongoing focus by FedEx to give customers a competitive edge by strengthening its connection between China and Europe. China is Europe’s fastest-growing export market.

According to the Chinese General Administration of Customs, the country’s exports to the EU hit US $236.2bn last year, accounting for 20% of China’s total overseas shipments.

FedEx has enhanced its services between China to Europe to meet increased customer demand.  Enhancements by FedEx for the China-Europe segment include the launch of the express air cargo industry’s first express direct flight from mainland China to Europe in March 2005. In February 2009, FedEx opened its Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, which represents its long-term commitment to providing better services and access to businesses in Asia by connecting the region with hundreds of European cities via the FedEx EuroOne network.

“Our continuous enhancement demonstrates FedEx long-term commitment to improving our service capabilities in China,” said Audrey Cheong, managing director of Operations, International Service, FedEx China.  ”Customers’ needs and convenience are always of our top focus, FedEx strives to provide customers with more convenient and efficient shipping services to help them grow and compete.  With the growth of the China- to-Europe service lane, we continue to enhance our services in order to deliver an unmatched express offering to customers doing business there.”
