Austrian Post expands Sunday delivery service

Austrian Post expands Sunday delivery service

About a year ago, Austrian Post extended Sunday delivery to the greater Vienna, Linz and Graz areas. From Sunday, 14 June, Austrian Post will also deliver parcels on Sundays in the city of Salzburg for the first time.

Sunday delivery is a service offer especially for mail order companies who are willing to pay a corresponding surcharge for Sunday delivery. All other parcels will be delivered as usual from Monday to Saturday.

For Sunday delivery, Austrian Post is relying on its own staff in the long term and is looking for new delivery staff for the parcel delivery base in Thalgau especially for this purpose. In contrast to other logistics companies in Austria, Swiss Post delivers the majority of parcels with its own staff and only outsources parcel delivery to other transport companies if this is not otherwise possible due to peaks.

Austrian Post has always worked on Sundays, in the past mainly in logistics centres or in transport logistics. With additional dedicated staff in Sunday delivery, Austrian Post will now also be visible on the streets on Sundays. In this way, the company is creating new jobs in the recession and offering interested parties a well-secured earning opportunity on the basis of the postal collective agreement.
