Austrian Post strengthens its logistics infrastructure in Carinthia

Austrian Post has opened a new, modern postal base in Wolfsberg.

With a usable area of almost 3,000 m², the site offers modern workplaces for more than 90 employees and creates additional capacity for the reliable supply of the region.

The new postal base was officially opened in the presence of Johann Weber, Member of the National Council on behalf of Provincial Councillor Sebastian Schuschnig, Alexander Radl, Mayor of the Municipality of Wolfsberg, and Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General and Member of the Management Board for Parcel & Logistics at Österreichische Post AG.

From the new postal base, the postal workers deliver around 3,200 parcels, more than 19,000 letters, newspapers and magazines as well as over 15,000 leaflets in Wolfsberg and the surrounding communities every day. The delivery staff cover around 3,600 kilometres in the Lavant Valley every day.

The modular location will enable Austrian Post to react flexibly to increasing parcel and letter volumes in the future. At the same time, modern workplaces ensure modern conditions for pre-sorting and delivery. The new postal base is also equipped with charging infrastructure for a fully electric vehicle fleet. The building is heated by a heat pump, the roof is green and prepared for the installation of a photovoltaic system.
