DHL Russia delivers wildfire support

DHL employees in Russia are providing their active support in delivering essential goods such as clothes, food, household items and stationery to the people affected by the recent wildfires. The pro-bono initiative by DHL Express Russia also included the collection of goods as well as a fund raising activity to support the purchase fire fighting equipment and protective clothing for volunteers helping to fight the fires.

“In the event of a natural disaster, efficient logistics is an important factor to support those who are affected. I am glad, that we could do our share and transport essential goods to people in need in the areas hit by the devastating fires,” said Rainer Wend, executive vice president, Public Policy and Responsibility.

The first DHL truck with humanitarian supplies left Saint Petersburg last month heading South and East of Moscow to the cities of Ryazan, Nizhniy Novgorod and Voronezh.

DHL also transported respiratory systems from Samara to Saransk South of Moscow and further humanitarian aid to the city of Vladimir East of the capital. Overall, DHL participated in the delivery of 40 tons of clothes, food household goods and sanitary items.
