Mexico City to host premier postal event

Mexico City has been confirmed as the 2011 destination for Triangle’s World Mail & Express Americas Conference and Exhibition. The industry-leading event will take place on 6-8 February at the Camino Real Polanco Hotel.

This represents a return to Mexico for the event, which in 2008 was held in Puerto Vallarta. Previous venues have included Rio de Janeiro and Miami.

Neil Jackson, Triangle chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be heading to Mexico once again for the next installment in the World Mail & Express Americas series.

“Mexico City is the largest city in North America and one of the most important political, cultural, and financial centres in the world. Furthermore, the country boasts a growing market, and is a crucial trading partner to the US.

“We are looking forward to meeting friends, both old and new, at what promises to be the best Americas conference yet.”

World Mail & Express Americas is now long established as the leading event for everyone concerned with letters and parcels in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Programme editor John Modd said: “Mexico City is a great place to hold such an important conference, given its central position in the region, providing ease of access for the many delegates who will attend to hear the thoughts of a wide-range of industry experts and to join in the unique and unrivalled networking opportunity.

“The host country has a particularly diverse and competitive postal and parcels sector, perhaps the most fought over in all of the Americas.  Mexico’s economy is increasingly sophisticated and this is reflected in the demanding requirements of customers of mail and express services. Competition and customers will feature strongly in the conference programme.”

World Mail & Express Americas will, of course, also feature CEOs and other industry leaders from countries throughout the Americas, whether small island nations or countries covering a huge landmass, and serving economies in all stages of development.

Modd continued: “As we at Triangle finalise the programme for Americas 2011, we would welcome the thoughts of Post&Parcel subscribers on possible content.  As programme editor, I would be particularly interested to hear from potential speakers who feel they have something relevant to communicate.

“As ever, our focus will be on the important strategic issues affecting both public and private operators in the region, including, for example:  the impact of new technologies; the development of new services linked to internet and mobile technologies; and how operators are making it easier for customers to access their services. I would also welcome specific input from customers and other users; from governmental agencies involved in postal matters; and from regulators.”
