TNT Post Germany changes name to PostCon

PostNL has changed the name of TNT Post Germany to bring all its domestic mail services in Germany under one brand name, PostCon. The PostCon brand has already been in use within Germany, with the firm one of the largest bulk mail specialists in the country, but the Dutch postal operator PostNL is now subsuming the activities of TNT Post Germany under the PostCon name. It said the merged brand will retain all existing operational sites.

PostCon/TNT Post Germany has been operating since the year 2000, specialising in business letter mail services.

Effective 19 March, the company will offer a full range of commercial mail and shipping services, though business-to-business services will remain the core business.

Structure

The company’s new structure includes a Postcon Regional division, which will provide postal delivery services particularly for the small business sector, and a Postcon National division to manage the company’s large corporate accounts.

The company’s PostCon Consolidation division will provide bulk mail services, with the downstream access business that collects mail from business customers, sorts it within 14 sorting centres, and transfers it to Deutsche Post for last mile delivery.

For international mail services, the company said it would continue to cooperate with Spring Global Mail Germany, another company owned by PostNL.

In a statement, PostCon said its corporate activities will be even more closely aligned with the needs of individual customers, offering more tailored advice and services at “attractive” rates.

“Customers will benefit from the flatter hierarchy, more personalised local contacts and transparent systems, which allow them to easily select from the entire portfolio and easily bundle services together. This company is characterised by a special customer and market focus,” the firm explained.

PostCon, which employs about 6,000 people, says it has a market share of more than 7% in Germany, and is the largest mail competitor to Deutsche Post.

The firm is running a new promotional campaign with the tagline: “You do your job, we handle your post. Expect more.”

PostNL, the universal postal service provider in the Netherlands, kept the use of the TNT Post operating brand following its demerger from the express business TNT Express in 2011. The TNT Post brand is still in use within PostNL’s in-country postal businesses in Italy and the UK, but PostCon begins the move away from the old TNT brand.

Training

Beginning this summer, PostCon is launching a new training programme for 120 trainees, the largest apprenticeship programme in the company’s history.

The training in the North Rhine-Westaphalia area will aim to sustain long-term growth at the company, it said.

“We want to retain our employees in the long term, and build the company from within by providing real development opportunities,” said Olaf Rekittke, PostCon’s director of human resources.

“Despite declining letter volumes, we are optimistic about the future.”
