Fewer letters mailed after postal rate increase
The numbers of letters and parcels have dropped by 20 percent, after Thailand Post increased stamp prices and other service fees a month ago.
President of Thailand Post Company Limited Theerapong Suthinon revealed that the company increased its service fees on January 15th, with the permission of the Cabinet. Although the numbers of letters and parcels is dropping, the company believes that the situation will soon be back to normal.
Mr. Theerapong said that the main income of the company comes from its parcel service. People are sending fewer letters because of the convenience of e-mails.
Thailand Post Co. Ltd. will soon launch its own website , for consumers to order products, including OTOP items, online. The company will then offer a door-to-door delivery service.
