German Deutsche Post rejects union demand

Deutsche Post, the German national postal service operator, is reported by management to be planning to reduce remuneration for its employees with the status of official, numbering around 67,000. Management has rejected a demand by Ver.di, the services sector union, that the postal operator refrain from cutting holiday pay and Christmas bonuses. In its decision, the company is complying with a government plan to reduce officials’ remuneration.
