Garuda Indonesia extends mail contract with Pos Indonesia

Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has extended its contract with postal services company PT Pos Indonesia to transport mail inside and outside the country, an official report said.

Documnts on the contract’s extension were signed by Bachcul Alam, Garuda’s business director, and Bambang Hidayat, PT Pos’s technical and infrastructure director, at a ceremony at the Garuda head-office here recently, according to a Garuda press release on Thursday.

Under the contract, Garuda would serve as PT Pos’s domestic and overseas mail and parcel carrier, said Pujobroto, head of PT Garuda Indonesia’s communication division.

Pudjobroto said in an effort to increase its cargo-transporting capacity, Garuda was planning to operate a B-737-200 freighter aircraft with a capacity of 15 tons in the middle of this year.
