Deutsche Post’s StreetScooter announces new COO
Former auto industry consultant Markus Doerr is set to take on the newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at StreetScooter, the Aachen-based Deutsche Post subsidiary which makes electric-powered commercial vehicles.
Doerr was previously Managing Director of the Automotive Engineering division at Ricardo, a global engineering and strategic, technical and environmental consultancy company, where he was responsible for Europe, India, Japan and Korea.
In an earlier role at Ricardo, he established and led the global strategic consultancy business. Prior to joining Ricardo, Doerr worked with the automotive teams at two major consulting firms, A.T. Kearney and Roland Berger, having started his career in the automobile industry at the Ford Motor Company in Cologne.
“I’m delighted that StreetScooter has been able to secure Markus Doerr for its management team,” said Jörg Sommer, CEO of StreetScoote. “He’s a proven automobile expert with a profound insight into international production processes and product development, procurement and supply chain management as well as quality management and internationalization strategy. Markus Doerr will be a real asset to our team and, as COO, support StreetScooter as it enters its next phase of expansion and growth.”
Doerr added: “The new challenge is very appealing. StreetScooter is a fascinating and innovative company, and it makes me proud to be part of the team at Germany’s leading electric commercial vehicle manufacturer. Climate protection in delivery operations and new concepts for last mile logistics are issues that are very important for the future and are certain to gain in significance. There is much for StreetScooter still to do here.”
Markus Doerr will join the senior management team at StreetScooter as COO alongside Jörg Sommer (CEO), Arndt Stegmann (CFO) and Fabian Schmitt (CTO). Michael Neuenfeldt has been responsible for Sales & Marketing since 1 April, after his tenure at DAF.
