Arla [Express Dairies] to deliver parcels [for TNT Mail]

LONDON (ShareCast) – Arla Foods will now be delivering parcels alongside customers’ morning pint of milk, after the group signed a new deal with TNT Mail.

Arla signed a two-year agreement with TNT Mail, which will see Express Dairies delivering ADVERTISEMENT

addressed, heavier weight letters and packets for TNT Mail’s customers.

The company, which recently signed an agreement to be the sole supplier of milk to Asda, the UK’s second largest supermarket chain, also reported first half results today.

Arla posted a decline in pre-tax profit to £5.0m for the six months to March against £6.1m the previous quarter, while sales for the period more than doubled to £697.9m compared to the previous six months figure of £323.5m.

Elsewhere in the group, Arla said its branded dairy products business was continuing to perform strongly, with Lurpak sales up 10% and Anchor Spreadable sales up 13%.

Chairman Sir David Naish said, “I look forward to reporting continued progress in the remainder of the current reporting period and in the longer term.”

The group has proposed a total dividend to date of 1.1p per share, 10% higher than the same period a year earlier.
