DHL partners up with Lidl

Deutsche Post DHL Group and Lidl, one of the largest food retailers in Germany, have announced that 500 DHL Packstations will be installed at Lidl stores nationwide this year.

The partnership between Deutsche Post DHL Group and Lidl is one of DHL’s largest strategic partnerships with a retailer.

With the approximately 500 DHL Packstations that will be built at Lidl stores across Germany, supermarket customers can receive and send DHL parcels while shopping for groceries. Also in 80 branches of Lidl in the Rhein-Neckar area, the partners are trialing pick-up options from Lidl’s online shop.

“The partnership will benefit all sides, and especially our customers, as 500 more DHL Packstations are built in easy-to-reach and attractive locations”, Martin Linde, sales manager of DHL Group’s German mail and parcel division, explains. He says the automated packing stations are becoming more and more popular, as they are easy to use and available 24/7.

René Engel, Member of the Management Board at Lidl Germany, adds: “Nobody wants to spend their free time traveling long distances. We therefore offer our customers DHL Packstations – a service directly at our branches. “
