Swiss Post opens sales subsidiary in Belgium
Swiss Post International (SPI) has opened a sales subsidiary in Belgium. With SPI Belgium B.V.B.A. in Brussels, the international arm of Swiss Post is reinforcing its worldwide sales network and gaining a foothold in one of the key European markets. The range of services from Swiss Post International includes handling international mailings for business customers. With SPI Belgium B.V.B.A., SPI is consolidating its strategy of establishing a presence in key partner countries by establishing its own subsidiaries.
By opening SPI Belgium B.V.B.A. in Brussels, Swiss Post International (SPI) can build up its presence in a key European market and expand its sales network at the same time. The SPI product range extends from international business and bulk mailings (Business and Marketing Mail International) through solutions for global press products to individual services. Customers can benefit from the renowned high quality of Swiss Post International. Swiss quality abroad Today, more than 773 employees work for SPI, the international arm of Swiss Post, which was founded in 1996. SPI is represented by its own subsidiaries in all of Switzerland’s major partner countries. As well as Belgium, SPI now has its own national companies in Austria, Germany, France, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands and the USA. Swiss Post International also works together with franchise partners in Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Sweden. In March, SPI also entered into distribution partnerships with the postal organizations in Slovenia, Hungary and Slovakia. It maintains partnerships with global providers for parcel and courier services. An international presence is important for Swiss Post because business customers are adopting an increasingly global approach. The international unit of Swiss Post contributed positive results to the Group’s profit in 2003. Compared with 2002, SPI lifted sales by 12% from CHF 807 million to CHF 900 million. The operating result rose slightly from CHF 30 million to CHF 31 million.
