Swiss Post CEO steps down after “setting Swiss Post on a new, sustainable path”

Robert Cirillo, CEO of Swiss Post, has announced that he is stepping down from his role after six years.
On LinkedIn the CEO stated: “Having served now 6 full years and completed my original mission of stabilising and setting Swiss Post on a new, sustainable path, I have announced today my intention to step down from my role as CEO, as of the end of March 2025.
We have now closed the strategic period 2021-24 with a good result with strong progress vs PY (figures at the press conference of March 13th, 2025), in line with our expectations.
The second 4-year leg of our strategy for the years 2025-28 has been approved by our Board and owner. We started its implementation on January 1st, as the challenges remain huge, requiring us to move forward at full speed.
Swiss Post is both, an institution and a company, a public service provider and a business. As such, it needs strong and long-lasting leadership and strategies, like the one we set up back in 2019-20. Since then, the entire board of directors has been renewed, as well as the vast majority of the executive positions at executive board level and business unit level. I feel it is now the right moment for me and the company to move on and allow for a new leader to step in to carry the company beyond the 2030 horizon.
I am indebted and grateful first and foremost to my two Chairmen, first Urs Schwaller and later Christian Levrat, for the opportunity to serve and the trust-based relationship we have forged through the years. As different as you are, you have been both great mentors and sparring partners.
It was a privilege to engage and exchange regularly with the Heads of the DETEC (UVEK) and Finance Departments of the Swiss Government, namely former Federal Councillors Doris Leuthard, Simonetta Sommaruga and Ueli Maurer, and the current Federal Councillors @Karin Keller-Sutter and Albert Rösti. To them and their teams, as well as all other current and past Federal Councillors with whom I could discuss the development of Swiss Post and Switzerland in general, my deepest gratitude for the open and fruitful collaboration.
Working closely with our Government, its Agencies, both chambers of Parliament and their many Committees, Cantonal Governments and Local Authorities, it has given me a unique perspective on the workings of our country, and I have won an enormous appreciation for our democracy and those who serve to maintain it.
To our customers goes my gratitude for the business they give us, and the trust they put in our services. To our partners, with whom we ventured together, thank you for the valuable collaboration. You are all in good hands with Swiss Post and always will be!
And finally to my teams: Group executive board (KL), Group Staff, top and senior managers, line managers and employees: it has been the joy of my life to serve during these six years knowing that I could rely on you to deliver outstanding services and move Swiss Post and our country forward. Thank you for being such fantastic people!
It was an honour being a postman for these 6 years. Viva la Posta!”
